52 an hour The City of Portage is seeking a creative, organized, self-motivated, independent, confident individual for the position of Farmers' Market Manager.
This full-time position works year-round with the primary responsibility managing the day-to-day operation of the Farmers Market, currently operating May through October on Sunday from 9:

This will include an on-site presence at the market during all market hours, as well as in office work during non-market hours.
Responsibilities will also include researching opportunities for expanding operations to evenings, Winter Farmers Market, Argi-tours and implementing other markets such as craft markets, art fairs and kids' markets.
In addition, the Farmers' Market Manager will represent the market to the market's vendors, the consumers, and the community.
Administrative duties will include, but not be limited to, enrolling farmers/vendors, the review and retention of vendor forms, ensuring collection of fees owed through on-line registration system with accurate accounting, on-going communication of policies, activities, and rules to vendors, providing weekly accounting and performance reports as well as assess market usage.
This position will oversee the IdeaWorx Business Development Incubator and Portage Culinary Academy programs.
This will require the incumbent to work with the Small Business Development Center and MSU Extension to develop and offer programs for new business start-up and growth.
This position will research grant and fundraising opportunities through sponsorships and campaigns.
Candidate must be 18 years of age with a HS Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Certified Market Manager credentials must be held from the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MiFMA) or be willing to obtain certification by completing course requirements in winter 2024.
Experience in managing special events planning or Farmers' Market program desired.
Experience with grant writing or fundraising preferred.
Starting pay range is $20.
84/hour to $24.
52, 40 hours/week.

Daily/weekly schedule will be based upon the needs of the programming/season.
Incumbent must be available most Sundays, May - October, 6:

Flexibility to work afternoon, evening, and weekend hours outside of the Farmers Market season is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
